Pathfinder Recon · Project update
Pathfinder Recon is currently being brought fully online in preparation for the next Combat Box Apollo campaign on the Rheinland map.
Status update · 9 August 2026
Current position
The intention is to have the complete Apollo Rheinland reconnaissance image set updated shortly before the campaign goes live. Interim Rheinland images are already in the archive, while the final set is being prepared alongside the ongoing Recon Intel engine updates.
Some curated missions also contain reconnaissance material, notably Battle of the Scheldt. During the development phase these curated collections contain test images only. Further population of the curated mission archive will follow after the Rheinland campaign has been run and the end-to-end system has been confirmed working as intended.

Curated mission
Battle of the Scheldt already has reconnaissance material available as an example of the curated mission library.

Where this is heading
The intended workflow is simple: save one permanent Smart Link for Flat Screen or VR. Pathfinder Recon identifies the Combat Box mission currently in play and opens the matching reconnaissance collection automatically.
Smart Link identifies the Combat Box mission currently in play and automatically points to the correct recon directory. During the development phase, curated missions will contain test images only.
While Apollo is not running and the curated archive is still being populated, the direct Rheinland and curated-mission links above remain the clearest way to browse the material currently available.
Flat Screen
The top-left shows the target name, type, grid location and elevation. Annotated target areas are designed to give useful insights into what to attack, but do not cover every enemy position.
Current Combat Box weather is shown at the top-right.
Scale and north orientation are shown along the lower part of the image, together with the altitude from which the photograph was taken.
For Apollo, recon is the Day 1 damage state — effectively untouched; actual damage will vary by day.
VR / OpenKneeboard
Requirement: install the latest stable OpenKneeboard release. Choose and copy one target-set link above; copying another replaces it on the clipboard.
Next update
I will post further updates to this page as the Rheinland image set is completed and the project moves towards the Apollo campaign going live.
